REGEN 2024 STINGERS

PROJECT DURATION: 5 DAYS

Stinger transitions made for Regen 2024, an in-person gaming tournament that was live-streamed across the duration of its runtime. These stingers would be used to cleanly switch what was being displayed on the livestream, introducing the new scene while hiding the cut from the previous one, so that viewers’ experience would be as smooth as possible.

Eight stingers were made for the event; six of the stingers were made to transition into specific overlays, such as the Versus Screen, which would prevent the event’s livestream from feeling repetitive. Each of these individualised stingers were also designed to be reflective of the upcoming scene, such as Into Replay having a timer quickly spinning anti-clockwise (to turn back time) and Into Bracket Path, which includes many twisting arrows, representative of the many different progressions of people’s tournament runs.

The other two (Main Stinger and Stream Start) were made to be able to transition into anything, with Main Stinger being an all purpose transition and Stream Start specifically being used to reintroduce the livestream as it began or when the action returned from a break.

Apart from Stream Start, all stingers were kept to be incredibly snappy and short. It was important to limit the amount of time that viewers weren’t able to see any entertainment or information as it could create an audiovisual dissonance, even if a small one, between what’s being discussed by commentators and what’s being displayed.

All stingers fit within the new brand guidelines drawn up for Regen 2024 and functioned flawlessly during the event.

QUICK CUTS.
