A trailer for a commercial in-person video game tournament, taking place in Birmingham, England.
There was no prompt given by the commissioner due to the trust they held in me to develop a design for the trailer that'd be unique and stylish. As the event was designed around the best Spanish players of the game being flown out to the event, I opted to make the trailer a combination of Team Regen's brand colours and the Spanish flag's colours. This resulted in a luxurious design, representative of the event's greater scale and budget compared to previous instalments in the Invasion series of events, that would be further complimented by Domaine Display, the serif font used for the trailer.
To create a greater appeal for the trailer, I chose to have every scene transition into each other in a fluid and stylistic fashion to make each piece of presented information more interesting and thus memorable. I additionally used captured footage I shot of characters from the featured game to make them seemingly interact with the motion graphics presented in each scene, creating a stylistic synergy between the game and the trailer, further heightening viewer's experience. The general style of the trailer was based off the previously scrapped version, now reworked to utilise footage from the game rather than externally animated 3D models of the characters, which were no longer permitted by Nintendo to be used.
The trailer was well received online and led to the live event garnering 318 in-person attendants, an increase from the previous year's event in the Invasion series.
